The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has raised concerns over new U.S. tariffs, including a 25 percent duty on most imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10 percent tariff on all imports from China, on top of existing tariffs.

AAFA president and CEO Steve Lamar warned that the increasing tariffs pose a growing burden on businesses and consumers, adding that uncertainty could weaken the U.S. economy and the 3.5 million jobs supported by the industry.

The AAFA is calling for discussions with trade officials to implement policies that balance trade interests and ensure market stability. It also urged Congress to oversee tariff policies and renew trade agreements that support economic growth.
