By the end of 2021, the import and export surplus of China's leather industry was US$70.64 billion, up 33.7% year on year, accounting for 10.4% of the country's total import and export trade surplus. (From January to December 2021, the cumulative balance of import and export was US$676.43 billion).

The growth of total import and export of leather industry continues to slow down, in 2021, the total export value of China's leather industry products reached $90.33 billion, up 32.7% year on year, accounting for 2.7% of the country's total export volume.
