The presentation with cover the implications for the footwear sector of implementation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a 12 country trade deal led by the US that includes Japan and Vietnam, among other countries in the Pacific Ocean region, but does not include China. Immediate duty free status for shoes made in Vietnam and sent to the US has the potential to boost that trade at the expense of China. The outlook for China to join the TPP and for Europe to complete a free trade deal with the US and possibly its own version of TPP are also considered.
