INVITATION TO THE 30th IULTCS CONGRESS ¨C BEIJING, CHINA

There is much significance surrounding the upcoming 30th IULTCS Global Congress that will be held in China in 2009. This Congress will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the first IULTCS Global Congress that was held in Paris in 1949. During the 110-year history of the Union, this is only the second time that an IULTCS Congress will be held in Asia, and the first time in China. Today, China is a global leader in the production of leather, and her scientists and technicians make significant contributions toward the research and development of new technologies for leather manufacture.

So it is with much interest and anticipation that the IULTCS Executive Committee, and the global leather community that it represents, have accepted the invitation of the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) to meet in Beijing. The IULTCS Global Congress is the showcase for leading scientists to present the research and ideas that mould our thinking and shape the technology of our industry. I am sure that the event planned for 2009 will add another successful chapter to this history.

Therefore, on behalf of the IUTLCS Executive Committee and in cooperation with the CLIA Organizing Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend the 30th International IULTCS Congress to be held in Beijing in October 2009.

It¡¯s a great honor for us to host the XXX IULTCS Congress in Beijing 2009 when all the attendants will witness the historical moment of the 60th anniversary of IULTCS Congress. Welcome to Beijing to have eastern feast of the global leather societies.

Mr. Hurlow introduced the progress of preparation of the Beijing Congress 2009 during XVII Latin American Congress

On the 8th ¨C 10th October, 2008, the XVII Latin-American Congress of Leather Technicians and Chemists was successfully held in Brazil. In the conference, on behalf of China Leather Industry Association, Mr. Elton Hurlow, the President of IULTCS, introduced the progress of preparation of the Beijing Congress 2009 which will be holding on the 11th ¨C 14th October in 2009.

The XXX IULTCS Congress to be held in Beijing will be undertaken by China Leather Industry Association. The preparation is progressing successfully according to the plan. The International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies, a world-wide organization of professional societies, was originally organized in London in 1897. As of 2008 the organization has held twenty-nine Congresses in seventeen different countries on five continents. In 2009 the IULTCS will add another new country when the Congress is held in Beijing.
